Ireland

The Ireland jobs section on the RAN Jobs website covers both Northern Ireland, the northern six counties, and Eire, the southern twenty-six counties.

Northern Ireland jobs have traditionally been in textiles, shipbuilding and rope manufacture, but these Ireland jobs have mainly been replaced by services and public sector posts. Tourism jobs in Ireland have also become significant to the local economy. More recently, Northern Ireland jobs in high tech industries have benefited from major investment by multi-national corporations attracted by the highly skilled workforce in the Northern Ireland jobs market. Approximately 78% of Northern Ireland jobs are in the services sector. Northern  Ireland jobs are mainly found around the cities of Belfast, Armagh, Derry, Lisburn and Newry.

The Southern Ireland jobs profile has changed from an agricultural base to a modern economy, focused on Ireland jobs in services and high-tech industries. The total population of Eire is approximately 4.3m, with almost 10% (420,000), being non-nationals. Southern Ireland jobs in agriculture, fisheries and natural resources account for almost 8% of the Ireland jobs market; 29% of Ireland jobs are in computer manufacture, pharmaceuticals, food and drink, glass and crystal, machinery and software. 64% of Ireland's jobs are in accountancy, legal services, customer service operations, finance, catering and tourism.
