Alternative medicine and complementary therapies may be adopted by conventional practitioners if documented scientific proof can be produced. Opponents of alternative medicine and complementary therapies state that it is not medicine at all because they are non-evidence based medicine.

Instead of choosing between approaches, both patients and complementary therapies are applied at the same time as orthodox medication and procedures.
